Before I begin I am going to see my GP again tomorrow but in the mean time some advice or things to ask for would be great!

DD, 22 weeks, has terrible eczema all over her body with one particularly nasty patch at the top of her chest. We have hydromol on prescription, being using it for 2.5 weeks now. We also had a hydrocortisone cream for four days for the worst part. The steroid cream made a massive difference to the small area but everywhere else hasn't improved. And now having had two days without the steroid cream the worst patch is back to its previous terrible condition (ie bleeding)

Are there other creams we can try? We have been using oatmeal in her baths and only giving one/two baths a week.

Also we believe she has a CMP allergy but this hasn't been tested for. She has been increasingly sicky the past couple of days. Should I push for an allergy test? Is it worth me going dairy free as she is ebf?

It's horrible to see her trying to itch and she is very uncomfortable! Any tips or things I should mention to/ask gp would be great!

Hi
Yes I would definitely go dairy free as well as excluding soya. From my experience the medical professionals weren't particularly supportive but I found lots of support/info online.
My 7 mo had green, explosive mucus nappies, many other issues and dry patches of skin on her body.
I went dairy free, she improved. I started eating dairy and soya again (really tiny amounts) and we were back to square one. Took about a week this time for things to improve again. She's also not good when I eat beef, oats and tomatoes.
Hope you get things sorted for her I know it's awful seeing them suffering.

I'd suggest you do just go dairy free now, you know your baby best. As you're ebf it'll take a while to really see results as you'll need to wait for the dairy to get out of your system then out of lo's. I stopped dairy when my son was 5 months old after I found blood in his nappy (really scary). It took about 10 days to start seeing an improvement but since then things have gotten a lot better, even things I hadn't expected to change.

I have decided I am just going to go dairy free as GP wasn't very helpful! Any recommendations for nice dairy free products? I've got almond milk but don't want to buy loads of stuff that's horrible if I can help it!

Bourbon biscuits and ginger nut biscuits Smile

Vitalite spread for bread/toast. Aldi white seeded bread or some hovis is dairy/soya/egg free.

Vanilla rice milk is nice on cereal but you've got almond milk so that's ok.

Some dark chocolate.

I eat a lot of meat/salad/potatoes/mackerel. It's a lot of checking labels unfortunately, but I've felt doing this is so worth it and won't be forever.

Of course all the veg/salad and fruits and rice as well.

I'd cut out soya as cows milk protein intolerant babies often have problems with soya.

Sorry the gp wasn't helpful. I found the same thing and even the consultants at the hospital weren't great. I've just found my own way with it.

Look in the free from section in sainsburys as well Smile

Haven't had a RTFT (sorry!) but have a google of CMPI and see if anything rings true. DD has it and eczema. She can't have cow/soya/goat or sheep milk.
