awkward breathing

Hi guys. My 5 yr old has been inhaling extra hard since thurs/fri last week. At first we thought he was doing it for the sake of it, but when he came out of school yesterday, he said he couldn't breathe so good at playtime, and his chest hurt. I rang the docs straight away and got him an appointment there and then. The doc gave him a thorough check over, and dismissed asthma (which I thought it could have been) he said it was probably a pulled muscle, but didn't give us anything and sent us on our way. He's still breathing like that, and I'm starting to doubt the doctor. What do you guys think?

Oh I'd phone and ask to see another doctor oP. Is he pale? Has he got any blueness about his mouth?

Is he well in himself?

Yeah he's his normal happy active self no blueness or anything like that. I'd be down A&E straight away if he was like that. He only does it when he's awake though. He doesn't do it when he's asleep.

Hi. My son did this for a few months last year and I occasionally have times myself when I feel I have to take an extra deep breath to try to get enough oxygen. With me it gets worse the more I think about it. In my son's case I'm pretty sure it was a habit/tic which he eventually stopped. I'm not sure of his chest would hurt if it was this so may be a muscular thing. I would take him back if you're concerned.

Thanks guys. He seems to have stopped doing it now. Or at least he didn't do it this morning Smile
