Oral thrush

Little girl is 9 1/2 week and has oral thrush the past week treatment started yesterday due to prescription mixed up. How can babies get it? She doesn't use a dummy and bottles are used within 8 hours off being sterilized. No one at homme is suffering from it and all clothes are washed separate at 60 degrees :/ do babies just get it with out cause or is there something we are missing ? I used dentinox colic drops and calpol saline spray could these have done it ?

If you are breastfeeding or have breastfed then it has probably come from you. It's quite common I think and easy enough to treat :-) My DS has had it twice and it cleared up quickly enough.

As far as I know you can't get it from bad hygiene or anything like that. It's just a bacteria present in our bodies that flares up in babies.

Am not Breast feeding so no from me :/ am just curious so I can try to stop her getting it again

I'm not sure I'm afraid then. I wouldn't worry too much though :-) it will clear up soon enough.

Dd2 is 7 weeks old and has it too. We were prescribed nystatin from the docs. She loves the taste so easy enough to administer.

One of mine had it a couple of times when tiny, was told it was because she had been on antibiotics (persistent infection after birth). Had to paint some stuff in her mouth a few times a day and it soon cleared up. Not caused by poor hygiene, apparently some babies get it for no particular reason it's just that their immature systems can't control the amount of bacteria in their bodies yet.

Oral thrush is massively over diagnosed. I bet it's just milk residue on her tongue. If it is it will come off. Cover your finger in a dry clean muslin and get her to suck on it.

It's not milk residue... It's on her lips inside and cheeks/ roof or mouth and does not come off :( seems better today after the 3rd application of the gel so it must be thrush

I agree with bonzo if you took her to GP with a white tongue then they will diagnose thrush. Much likely to be leftover milk.
However thrush can also be passed from parent by letting baby suck on your finger or by cleaning dropped dummies in your own mouth.

Sorry just reread your post. Could be dentinox drops since they contain sugar. Candida is a type of yeast and like all yeasts grows rapidly when sugar is added. I am not sure about saline spray. if your DD is feeding ok and not grizzly it is likely the thrush is not causing discomfort so saline spray not really necessary.
