Alternatives to brown inhaler for 2 yr old

DS although not diagnosed with asthma takes brown preventer inhaler in the winter. When he gets infection and it goes on his chest he has blue inhaler, maybe this is pretty common I don't know.
I didn't twig that the brown inhaler was a steroid, but talking to a woman the other day she was talking about alternatives, heat pads, tiger balm etc that she uses. Any thoughts? Tia

Google not good.

Misty the guidelines also state when an inhaled steriod should be introduced.

Minutely karst is not a preventer...for those who want to read further it is a leukotrine inhibitor and works in a different way in the lungs.

It works for some but not for all and a recognised side effect is disturbing dreams etc.

I take my dose in the morning so avoid this....

In adults it can be used for exercise induced asthma

If you are confused or need help about the best asthma care for you or a child, speak to your GP and to asthma.uk they can really help

On no account self medicate or stop taking your meds - you need them even if you feel ok.... Asthma can be cyclical and unpredictable....

And for children this is even more important - inability to play or to keep up, or blue lips means trouble.... Take it seriously ....

Lecture over but until you have experienced being unable to breathe to talk and doanything at the same time you can't know how bad it is....

Misty with so much history it seems odd that nobody has offered him a preventer, I would make an appointment with the asthma nurse or doctor and push for a brown inhaler

I hope your DD is better soon too.

My DS (4yo) had an asthma attack tonight, he is now pumped up on prednisolone, and settled ... for now.

I have just spoken to my DD about this, and she suggested the asthma nurse as well! Or speak to another doctor... its madness at this time of year with all the bugs going around . MY DGS is on antibiotics for a chest infection, the brown preventer and the blue cough one
