Periods, pain and sickness

Just wondering if anybody thinks this is worth a trip to see the gp and if so are we able to opt for the female, even though we are registered with the male doctor at the practice.

Ok, dd started periods a while ago, she is 10.
Until now they have been little more than a show, but today for the first time, quite heavy, painful and she is retching from the pain.

I was like this, started at 9 and had some powerful tablets as each month the first day was vomiting.

As she is only just starting I was going to leave the gp and see how it goes, but I suffered for too long as a child before mum took me to gp and don't want her to go through the same.

Trip to gp, or wait and see, what do others think.

we had to take dd 17 ,as she was fainting from the pain and had to be hospitalised twice,
gp started her on the pill (i know your daughters too young for that )but
she did want to start her on m(something)? acid but couldnt as shes asthmatic so pill was only choice.
no problems since.-fingers crossed-

Oh thank you for your reply, poor love has been ever so poorly today and not her usual self at all.
The tablets they gave me were massive but did the trick.
I might look them up if I can remember the name.

Poor love, I suffered horribly as a child (and as an adult too). Prostaglandin tablets helped for a while until I was old enough for the pill. Even if you/the GP are reluctant to have anything prescribed, at least by taking her along, you have it on record that she has been suffering from this age - and it might also be helpful if she has to miss time from school.

I hope things improve for her. I dread this happening for my DD.
