My ds has just come downstairs from his bed. He was sick last night and initially said he felt sick and looked a bit upset. He then started saying things that didn't make sense like there's treasure in his school and robbers and the teacher had stole money as he had some in his hand etc. He seemed to know where he was and who we were and I asked him his friends names but he seemed a bit confused. It scared me a bit but he wanted to go back to bed and I think he's fallen asleep again. Could this just be due to a dream? Seems a bit strange that he was wakened and talking like this.

Sounds v much like sleepwalking to me. I would half wake and walk around my house, I knew exactly where and who everyone was, but there was extra stuff superimposed on top (bit like what I imagine an acid trip might be like?)
I would usually have something I urgently needed to tell mum. She would (in real life) chat back and I'd half make sense. Usually as she took me back to bed I'd properly wake up, though still be dozy and rambling, so I would remember in the morning

I think it's more likely to be illness-related delirium than sleepwalking. He was fully awake and remembers it, so he wasn't sleepwalking. It's really nothing to worry about, unless it happens regularly, but chances are it was a one off.

Thanks everyone. He seemed fully awake but looked a bit glazed and distant. I'm wondering if the fact that I kept him up asking him questions that by the time he went back to his bed he was coming out of it and so remembered bits.

My 14yo has done it twice in the last week. Came down and told me something urgent then went back to bed. She doesn't remember it in the morning. I've put it down to stress, she's been rushing about all evening, very tired and into bed with lights out at 10pm. She been having a bath at 7.30 now and chilling in bed for an hour before sleep. It's a bit scary when it happens.

My nephew had a fever and I was trying to give him medicine, he thought I was Nanny McPhee and was trying to poison him. He was VERY polite about it though Grin

dd1 does this all the time when she has a fever. last time she had flu she came down stairs very upset and confused saying her best friend was in her bedroom with a knife and trying to kill her! Now when ever she has a fever she tends to come into bed with me while dh sleeps downstairs in case she starts wandering
