Ongoing cough

Both DD and DS have had a cough for weeks now. Their chests were checked a while ago and were clear and there is no wheeziness. They don't cough at night but usually when they wake up and then through the day. DS does have inhalers for virally induced asthma which I am giving but DD does not respond to inhalers so I don't think hers is asthma.

I am getting paranoid in case it's due to our new kitten which we got 6 weeks ago. However we already had a cat which didn't cause any symptoms and the new kitten is the same breed (Bengal) which is supposed to be good for allergies (not that DD has any known allergies and DS just has pollen allergy). They have no itchiness or runny eyes or any other reaction.

Could it just be a virus that's taking a while to shift or does it sound like an allergy.

Why not try some antihistimine? If it works, then it may well be an allergy?

Oh thanks, I didn't think about antihistamine for a cough. Will give it a try.

Just had another thought. Depending on your DC age, it might be worth trying this allergy reliever.

I have one, and DS uses it too for hayfever.

Thanks JS. The thing is, the only symptom is a cough - no runny nose or watery eyes or anything else.
