We had a D&V bug wipe the family out not last week but the week before, it started with the toddler, then me, then DH. On the Wednesday evening after school our six year old started with diarrhoea so I phoned school and explained, and she wasn't in on the Thursday and Friday, though didn't get the sickness.

She was fine in herself over the weekend, maybe a little more emotional, which I put down to her being wiped out and she returned to school on Monday.

On Tuesday afternoon she came home from school and fell straight to sleep, waking later and complaining of a sore throat and aching limbs. She was pale and had a temp Wednesday so I kept her at home Wednesday and Thursday, where she slept most of the time, she was pretty poorly but it seemed to be a bug so I kept her drinking and gave her paracetamol but wasn't overly concerned iyswim? On Thursday night/Friday morning she threw up a few times and then seemed ok, though I knew she was run down as she has an eye problem that flares up when she's run down, tired etc.

Fast forwards to this morning before school and she woke saying her neck hurt. I assumed it was because she'd slept in my bed and had used two of my pillows and was a little stiff, she's returned home from school barely able to swallow and her neck below her ear and up into her face are swollen and painful. DH said it's only a swollen gland and I'm concerned over nothing (over the phone as he's away) though I think the best thing would be to try and get her a GP or at least a nurses appointment tomorrow to get her checked? Her throat looks similar to mine as a child when I had tonsillitis but minus the white coating, my DM's suggested mumps, I've never seen it so no idea? What would you do?

Mumps. I've known one person have the mumps despite the MMR injection

It can be one side or both
