Hi

Please need some advice, DS 10mths usually very healthy well.

Last 48 hours he has been sick & bad (smelling foul) poo!

I phoned 111 just for some advice & they didn't seem overly concerned?!

I now have started being sick & diarrhoea bad :(

I'm a lone parent & can't cope with us both being sick. My family will come help me tomorrow if I am still sick, but WWYD if 10 month old still not well after 48hrs?

He has not really eaten anything, but I have made sure he's getting plenty of water.

Wish I didn't feel so effing sick myself Confused

How is he apart from the vomiting? Did they discuss the signs if dehydration with you?

TheJourney22 · 10/10/2014 19:58

He's very whingey, clingy but won't sit still with me. They did talk about dehydration, I'm worried now thou as just read NHS website and if babies are sick more than 3 times & 6 loose bowel movements in 48hrs doctor should be contacted.

I can't stop vomiting myself at the moment :((

Can you take yourself off to bed? Is his cot nearby? Make sure you've got plenty of water, sone paracetamol and lots of nappies for him Thanks

Badvoc123 · 10/10/2014 20:35

Oh you poor thing.
If he is alert and playing and won't sit still he isn't dehydrated.
Things to watch out for are: sunken fontanelle, dark or foul smelling urine, dry lips and eyes.
Can you go to bed and get him to sleep with you?
Ask your dad to get you some dioralyte tomorrow from the chemist.
Hope you feel better soon x

TheJourney22 · 10/10/2014 20:53

Thank you both :) I've been in bed since 730pm ... Just can't stop being sick.

You've reassured me about the dehydration.

Let's just fingers crossed all resumes normal tomorrow!

We have all had it - or a variation thereof :) it's not nice.
Just hoping the dc are over it now.
Dh back from a trip away so I have some help now at least!
Water is best...for both baby and you...tiny sips to help it stay down.
And when you feel better google BRAT diet - foods to eat after stomach problems.
X

Saw Dr today ... Said no milk today, and offer sugary drinks!

He seems ok ... Although whingey / clingy but that's him quite often anyway!

So he's had no milk, only plain rice & a few crackers, water all day. Bedtime soon, will give him some more water & then hope for the best Smile

How are you feeling?
My DS2 is 9.5 mo and has a bug at the moment too so much sympathy.

When DS1 was a similar age he had a D&V bug for 4 days and we ended up in A&E as he started to refuse water (it just came back out) and hadn't wee'd in 24 hours. The Children's ward doctor said that he could "not eat" for 2-4 weeks and he'd be okay as long as he was drinking water and not to worry.
Eventually we managed to get fluid into him after they put in a drip which perked him up no end.

I would also recommend asking your GP for a prescription for Motilium - it used to be over the counter until recently - it has Domperidone which pushes all food out of your stomach. They have helped me survive many a D&V attack with dS1.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 12/10/2014 20:27

How are things today?

TheJourney22 · 12/10/2014 20:38

Wow! What a bug Hmm 3 days worth of D & S!

However, we are in the mend, cutting out milk/dairy seemed to do the trick, if he wakes up tomorrow with no sickness we are in the clear! Smile

Thank you all for your advice, just a little scary, hideous, exhausting (need I go on....)

Yes, found out the other day you can't buy Motilium over the counter anymore, defo asking my Doc for prescription! (For me!)

Apparently there is a bug going round at the moment, my poor Dad is now sick too! In fact anyone that has come in contact with us since Weds has been struck with it, can't believe anything can spread that easily/quickly.....

Thanks again all :)
