Toddlers, tongue/lip tie and reflux - your experiences please

My 25 month old seems to have an upper lip tie, and I suspect a posterior tongue tie too. Like so many of these little tigers, he has reflux. Also, he's really "windy", and still does huge burps now. He's not the greatest of eaters either. The reflux is my biggest concern at the moment. He seems to be outgrowing his omeprazole dose - he's been on the maximum paediatric dose since he was 7 months old. He's started waking at night screaming again. Add to that, our crap paediatrician has just seen him in clinic and seems to be implying it's all (reflux, CMPI, egg intolerance) in my head. Feeling really despondent about it all to be honest.

Am trying to convince DH that we should get DS seen by Dr Levinkind in London.

In the meantime, does anyone have any positive stories of improvement in/resolution of reflux after division of tongue/lip tie in a toddler? Or even if it didn't help at all ... Would love to hear your experiences.

Will also post this elsewhere - couldn't think of the best place to put it.

Correction - when I said he was "windy" I actually meant "burpy" .,, because you could totally make that mistake Hmm

Dd had her tongue tie cut as a baby. She is still sicky and burpy now and has just turned four.

We are seeing a paed in a months time because the sick needs to be controlled - she starts school next year and can't be vomiting all over the place.

Oh bless 3062 - your poor little girl. Is she in pain/is it reflux related?

My son started vomiting again when we attempted to wean his reflux meds. It was only short term, and a few times a day, but since he was older he found it really distressing, especially the "mess" he was making. I'm sure your little girl finds it unpleasant too. Hope you find a solution.

DS is 27 months & had a posterior tt cut twice when tiny to allow us to establish bf. They left his lip tie intact, but he broke this himself falling over a few months ago!

I do suspect that his tt has either healed or grown forward (apparently there is some thinking that this can happen) because he can't stick his tongue out & eats ice creams in a strange non-licking way.

He doesn't have any of the negative problems mentioned, but I am keeping an ear out for speech problems. He is currently normal for his age, but normal at this point isn't the clearest of speech!

Thanks Mummy - I had heard that the reluctance to do anything about lip ties was because most kids manage to bust it themselves falling over. Was/is your son "burpy"? Apparently lip tie causes them to swallow air when eating. I'm hoping if there's less air coming up, there will be less acid coming up along with it, IYSWIM.

He didn't have any of the reflux/burpy issues. Just completely unable to latch when tiny.
