DS ears now sensitive after tonsil and adenoids removal

Hi DS 4 had his tonsils and adenoids removed. He also had a foreign body in his ear, but was taken out while he was in OP.

Since the operation, DS has started to become sensitive to sound. I did notice a month after his Op, he would put his fingers in ears out of discomfort. But I thought this will lessen over time.

When anything is really loud he will cover his ears. He does have ASD, so I thought this was a new behaviour. But I'm not sure.

Has this happened to any ones child before?

Did he get glue ear before the operation?

Sorry if I am repeating things you know, but: If he was getting fluid build up in his middle ear this can cause deafness. Removing the adenoids leaves more space for the fluid to drain and should stop the glue ear reoccurring.

This would mean his hearing is now better and he is getting to used to new/louder sounds, which I imagine might take a while for him to adapt to given his ASD.

The national deaf children's society might be able to help with more specialist advice about how long it would take him to recover and any possible complications to look out for

No he didn't have glue ear. But he did have very large adenoids and tonsils. Yes it could be that his getting used to the new sounds.
