"Mum, I've got an itchy bottom..." Is it worms? (Yuk!)

I did do a thread search but they all returned with the biscuit (page not there).

So 3.5 yr old has just told me about his itchy bottom. No other symptoms apart from the occasional fleeting tummy ache (could be unrelated and more to do with getting his own way, etc).

Do you think it's worms? What's the best treatment/course of action?

Thanks

If its at night,quite possibly.
If you look you'll see them.
Get an over the counter treatment for whole family and repeat after two weeks.
Its no big deal and very common.

Just treat anyway. In the meantime give his but a wipe with a babywipe or wet cloth to remove the glue that causes the itching.. boil wash his duds and pj's and shower him in the morning. Cut nails short and loads of hand washing and damp dust his bedroom, door handles, remotes etc that he might have touched to pick up the eggs and the whole family needs treating.

And keep a bottle of ovex in the cupboard with the headlice treatment for next one.

Thanks.

Yep, he made this announcement not long after going to bed. He's now got up for a luxuriously long poo ( Hmm ) so I'll have a look Envy in a mo.

DS is a thumb sucker and seems to get it twice year. You can see them with a torch. Tbh if it's itching at night and they're sleeping badly I'd treat them with an ovex anyway but maybe that's just me.

Shower every morning as soon as they wake, nails short, make sure they wear pants at night, wash bedding and towels and treat the whole family and again two weeks later. It's no big deal.

He's still in a nappy at night.

No sign of them in the loo just now. I'll swing by the chemist on my way home tomorrow and give everything a good scrub anyway.

Is this a good reason to buy a steam cleaner? Wink

You don't need an excuse to buy a steam cleaner.. I love mine, everyone should have one Grin

Not really the right place to ask, but is it any good/ok on laminate?

OP posts:

I don't use it on laminate so can't tell you. It's bloody good on ovens and tiles though.
