Temp of 39 and puking post vax?

DS is 3.4yo. Yesterday at 12 he had his first MMR and a diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio booster.

At bedtime, around 190\ his temp shot up to 39. He was shivery and quite miserable. Gave him Calpol but it didn't touch the temperature so gave him ibuprofen at 2130.

He's just, at 0030 puked quite a lot.

Is this a known, if unusual, reaction? You'll notice that we delayed his MMR a bit, so it's clear that I have had doubts in the past (not about autism) so I may just be over reacting. I generally don't deal well with my DC being ill so it is difficult for me to judge.

Should we just keep an eye on him and report reaction via yellow card system?

1900 not 190.

I would just try and get your child well.

They will never admit it's the vaccine, ever.

They will say....coincidence.

If you have more that's your choice.

Hope things resolve soon.

Really sorry he is so poorly. My DD was like that after her first round of injections. We had about 24 hrs of temp and projectile vomiting. Also constant crying/screaming but she was a baby. I had the second injections separately as it freaked me out so much.
Hope he feels better in the morning. Thanks

Well, he is still pretty miserable this morning, but at least he got a few hours sleep.

He might just have a bug. I do tend to get my kids the injections one at a time though so maybe that's why mine haven't reacted so much?

"They" have "admitted" that a vaccine can cause these symptoms.

NHS on side effects of DTaP immunisation

What OP describes is well known and affects about 1:100 children who receive DTaP, and usually side effects subside rapidly. One of my DC reacted (fever) to this jab and was listless for about 36 hours.

The page I linked includes an onwards link to Yellow Card scheme if you decide to use it. Go to your GP is he becomes very unwell, but I hope it doesn't come to that and he's back to his normal self soon.

Thank you. Particularly to Auntie Stella. I had done some googling but the middle of the night is not a great time for clear thinking!

I phoned the HV this morning and she reckoned that this was caused by DTaP.

He's still not feeling well but hasn't been sick since through the night.

Still no more puking but very tired today. Got up at 0630 and was back in bed asleep by 0830. He's still asleep but did talk to me coherently when I went in half an hour ago and offered him water.

Glad he is feeling better Germy! I hate it when mine are sick. Makes me feel so useless. Hope he is up and driving you mad by the weekend. Wink
