Baby Head Bump

So today my husband fell down the stairs whilst carrying our 8 month old and he tried to hang onto her but she fell from his arms and slid down half our stairway (carpeted) and landed on the hall floor (lino tile things) She cried for about 5 mins and dh called 111. Typically it was almost nap time so she had a snooze within 30mins (i know to watch out for unusual drowsyness but it was normal drowsyness)
Anyway 111 advised seeing a doc within 6hr so we got an app with the gp. She seemed a bit surprised that we werent at a&e with it being a head bump but she checked eyes and ears for blood, heartbeat, checked chest and abdomen and looked her over for swelling etc.
My dd has a small red patch over her eye (not swollen) and that is all. Gp then called a&e consultant to confirm all ok and we were told that a&e would have done the same checks and sent us away to return only if she became drowsy at unusual times, was sick, fitting etc.
Well its been 8hrs since the docs and all seems fine. I have been waking her every hr now that she is in bed to be sure she is ok.
Does this seem silly?
Also how long until I can be confident all is ok? 24hrs, 48hrs??
Its the first major incident we have had and she seems ok in herself. She has been smiling and giggling since. We have had a few grumbles but she has been a bit tempramental the past week (we think she is teething) so that doesnt help.
Hubby feels awful about the whole thing and tbh i feel a bit sick reliving seeing him fall and shouting 'no no no no....'
First time mum so all a bit confused and am very aware that there will be numerous incidents as she grows older.

I would let her sleep now and not continue to wake her. It sounds as though she's be absolutely fine all day. Keep an eye in her tomorrow and then I think you can relax. These things happen. Thanks

Oh your poor thing! It's everyone's worst nightmare and I worry so much when I go down the stairs with my youngest who is almost 3 months. The good news is that babies are incredibly resilient. It may not have been as bad a land on the head as you imagine. Sounds like baby is fine. I would have her looked at again for reassurance. My brother's baby fell off the sofa when she was a few months old onto a tile floor and fractured her skull. But it was obvious things weren't ok. She was in distress. That was 8 years ago and she's a humourous, hilarious, gifted little girl... a maths prodigy. :-) I think for your own peace of mind, I'd just have her checked again over the next couple of days either at A&E or at the GP's next week.

Thanks. Well so far no need to wake her anyway as she is on her normal current routine of waking every 1hr 30mins! We are on holiday in cornwall next week so wouldn't be able to go to our gp for a check up.
It has been my fear too every time i go upstairs so understand how awful my husband feels even though i know it was an accident that he couldn't have done anything about.
