Teething / canines / screeching in pain / refusing anything to help

Gah, what a fucking week it's been. Started off with a virus and now we are having uncontrollable teething pains.

21 months old, will not take anything (Calpol, Ice-lolly, teething granules, gel, flannel to bite on)

Having a screeching fit of pain every 10 minutes.

I am pretty sure it's teeth as he is pulling anything he can get hold of to his mouth and it's a regular pain. Plus the awful top canines are poking through.

He is just getting over a virus - sore throat and 3 days of a high temp - and now this.

Any suggestions? Or do we need to pin him down to give him medicine?

Also is this common for canine teeth. We've been relatively unscathed with teething (a bit of a moan but he'll sup some teething granules and be fine) so this is a shock to the system

TIA

We squirt it in (v gently and a little at a time so he doesn't choke on it) between cries. Or offer it on a spoon. Haven't had to do that often, but it works!

I would say very common with canines. Actually DS now suffering with second canines coming through - agony to brush apparently!
I second squirting the medicine in. Hope it doesn't last too long.

We've got a bit of medicine in. Not much but he's a bigger boy so the GP recommended he have a higher dose (he's only 50th centile mind, not a giant lol)

I can see the bottom canines right under the gum. Poor little sod.

I'm just sitting here crying though. Had a week off work and we've spent it poorly, house bound and now in incredible pain. I suppose it's lucky I had this week off???

Thanks guys, looks like it will be yoghurt for dinner!

Food-wise, baked beans with grated cheese and a baked potato go down well when my DS is teething, or just puree normal dinner. Soft weaning spoon too, not a metal one. Milk with a straw or in an open cup - not one with a top as that's too hard.

Any chance it could be an ear infection? Dd similar symptoms with it.
