NG Tubes and Reflux

Hi all, My son has just turned 6 and had GORD since he was born, He had his first Fundoplication in 2013 and unfortunately this failed and he had a re-do along with Pyloroplasty surgery just a few weeks ago. He was discharged with a standard NG Tube in place that is being changed every 7-10 days which he doesn't like having done but as they have decided he needs something more permanent for now they are replacing it with a Silk one on Monday, What is the difference? Is it just they last longer?

Yes they can be left in for longer, they come with a guide wire which you need to keep incase it comes out. If I remember correctly they can be left in for a month or more, although it may depend on hospital policy.
