Re-usable eye patches?

Hi

DS (6) has to wear a patch for an hour a day to hopefully improve his eyesight. We do it at home.

I have used these to date www.amazon.co.uk/Opticlude-Boys-Girls-Orthoptic-Patch/dp/B0091P3W50/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1404393085&sr=8-6&keywords=eye+patches as they mean he cannot see out, which he tried when I did the tissue around the lens the optician suggested.

But they only really last one day as they aren't sticky enough the next day.

Anyone used a re-usable/washable patch they'd recommend?

TIA

Does he not get the single use ones on the NHS?

Our paediatric eye clinic gets them to use their old patches to make pictures (eg snakes) to encourage children to wear the patches regularly. The pictures get put up in the waiting room.

Can you see or do you know someone who can? kitschycoo.blogspot.co.uk/2011/11/tutorial-sewing-eye-patch-for-lazy-eye.html?m=1

I got DS's from here. He has to wear it all day every day and the sticky ones were making his skin sore, so this one is much better.

No, not on the NHS...

That link looks good - will order one. Thanks!

We were supplied with meyepatch type patches when DD2 started patching but DD1 was issued awful NHS things when she started patching 6 years ago. We ordered framehuggers from the USA eyepatchesforglasses.com/ (they can be bought from Germany now so might be cheaper) and I swear by them!

DD1 had to wear hers all day for a long time and we had three so she could choose which one to match her outfit! She even got a reward chart and a toy which made the whole thing easier - especially when she got older and the novelty wore off.

Framehuggers totally occlude the eye - I wear glasses and found the meyepatch ones confusing as you can partially see bits around the patch.

It took 5 years of patching but DD1 was finally discharged 6 months ago - the vision in the weak eye is not equal to the other eye but at one stage we were looking at visual impairment! Honestly worth the cost...

Good luck,
