Do I need to worry - post dentist swelling?

Not sure what to do. DD agen10 had a milk tooth taken out yesterday as the grown up tooth behind it had shattered it rather than push it out.

I think when her face was numb she has bitten the inside of her lip or something. It's all swollen and the yellow, patch the size of a large 5p is showing. Looks like a sort of ulcer with yellow stuff underneath.

It's day two, it doesnot hurt but is uncomfortable and looks a bit weird.

Do I need to take her to doctors / dentist? How shall Treat it? What is it?

Looks like the area the dentist has put pressure on while removing the tooth fragments, causing a wound and mouth ulcer to form. Not serious unless it starts to worsen. I would try simple mouth washes with salt water and some calpol if it is sore. Obviously if it worsens or DD starts to feel unwell see GP.

Thanks, it's not getting worse but is getting a bit wet. Think I will keep an eye and see how it is over the weekend. Hadnot thought of the instruments but that makes sense.

Looks like she has bitten her lip while it was numb. Very common post op injury. Will heal up quickly but be a little sore. When she starts using hot salt mouth washes to clean tooth socket it should ease it and will also keep it clean. Mouths heal up incredibly quickly compared to the rest of the body and since they are packed full of bacteria at all times are less likely to become infected. It is unlikely to be trauma from extracted if as described they only removed fragments of shattered milk tooth.
