I have been prescribed Aveno moisturising cream for my daughter today but now read

www.nochemicalcosmetics.com/2011/aveeno-daily-moisturising-lotion/

Says not good as chemicals work against moisture.

Which natural cream would you recommend for eczema? (Odylique)

EssentiaL Care Repair(Odylique) or Hopes relief

Frankly, you can worry about the chemicals once that your child's skin is fine and health enough to try other stuff. And beware of the "natural" too, as most of these products are not properly tested on damaged skin and can make the problem much worse.

For what is worth, the only creams that worked on DS were aveeno and Eucerin 10% urea, used in conjunction with the prescribed dose of hydrocortisone (the HV only used when flares were up). But then I had a baby that needed to be peeled off the bed sheets every morning.

Oilatum in the bath was also great.

AVEENO is the best cream we ever tried. My daughter's eczema completely went away over winter once we started using it. The dry skin started to make an appearance when the weather warned up, but we have managed to keep it away with AVEENO We have also found found a suncream she can wear that doesn't make her skin sore - reimann P20 suncream.

Further to MeMyselfandI's point, there is concern that 'natural' creams which contain nut oils or other food ingredients might have sensitising potential, e.g. this case where a life long eczema sufferer developed anaphylaxis to goat milk protein after using a 'natural' product which contained said proteins: applying it topically to damaged skin is suspected to be the route of sensitisation. Another Aveeno and Eucerin user here.
