Dd constantly asleep

Dd1 is 12 she has ehlers danlos syndrome, pots, pectus excavatu, scoliosis and a suspected mitral valve prolapse (under investigation) so does experience high levels of fatigue.

She has been even more exhausted the last three days though and I'm starting to worry, all day Saturday she was what I would say at her 'normal' level so slow to wake/get up, lethargic for a while and needed rests during the day (lying down not sleeping) but she didn't look well. Yesterday she slept all afternoon. She woke this morning and tried to get up but ended up lying on bedroom floor and couldn't even get to the toilet without support.

She did manage some water and breakfast and went back to sleep where she still is now. She has puffy eyes and despite having non drowsy anti histamine has no other hay fever symptoms so not sure if puffy eyes are due to that. No temp, nothing else wrong but she can't stay awake.
I'm not sure what to do? Let her rest or take her to gp/hospital ?

I think GP.
Puffy eyes might be just from sleeping lots, but the fatigue needs to be checked out.
The poor little love, hope she's ok.

Could be the uti, they are a bugger to get rid of. Was she really tired last time with uti?

Tweasels · 23/06/2014 10:01

Why don't you ring your GP surgery and ask if a GP could call you back. They could then advise whether you need to take her in or not.

It doesn't sound right though does it? I don't know enough about her other illnesses to really comment but if you feel it's not normal then it's worth getting it checked out.

Edenviolet · 23/06/2014 10:04

The uti came on very quickly she was fine after school that day then by 7 pm was complaining of tummy ache and pain going to the toilet so we took her straight to ooh. After a few days she felt fine and we completed the whole course of antibiotics.

She just doesn't look right, even fast asleep. I will try to wake her and get another sample to take to the gp. I'm anxious due to the suspected heart problem too, she had her 48 hr ECG tape done but echo scan not till aug so I'm wondering if its that as six months ago she had no murmur and it was discovered four weeks ago.

Phone your GP and ask for an emergency appointment.

Edenviolet · 23/06/2014 10:06

Def not her 'usual' self. Normally she's tired and needs rests and to pace herself but this is very much worse she's just sleeping or unable to do anything. I knew she looked wrong on Saturday I didn't realise she would get this exhausted.

Will phone gp and get appt then they can check everything. I just have a horrible feeling its odd she's just not right.

If you feel it isn't right, then she does need to be seen. If you can't get an emrgency appointment then take her to A+E. I think if she doesn't look right to you when asleep then something must be going on. Hope you get seen shortly and that your dd is brighter soon.

TitsCrossed · 23/06/2014 10:38

Agree, if you can't get emergency appt at gp this morning then go to a&e. Hope she feeling better soon.

hellymelly · 23/06/2014 16:47

Hope you have been seen op.

Edenviolet · 23/06/2014 17:23

Saw gp, they couldn't find anything wrong but are going to try and see if echo appt can be brought forward.

Hope she is seen quickly then. Must be worrying for you.

Edenviolet · 23/06/2014 19:50

Very and 7 August is a long time to wait for echo when she's obviously not well. Fingers crossed its not that but I need to get it checked.

I assume she is under a consultant? You could phone his/her secretary. Our your GP could contact them to expedite appointments.
