Now clearly she can't win this one but I was expecting to take him in today and for her to pat me on the head and tell me its a good old virus .

However she has told me he clearly has some underlying infection ( raised glands) and I am right to be concerned . Has advised me to have an eye test and give him regular doses of painkillers for five days and to go back and see her .She even gave me the appt while I was there which is practically a mythical occurrence .

I do have ishoos around my childrens health but I normally manage to keep a lid on it and at least pretend I am a normal grown up .

Can someone please talk me down so I can go back to pretending at least that I am not shitting myself ?

Your thread title is a bit hard to understand but the gist is your child is unwell and your GP wants to see them again?

No idea what your thread title means but, you've been to the docs and she's getting treatment. Calm down.

MerryMarigold · 17/06/2014 16:45

I think if she was very concerned she would have sent you to A & E for a scan, so she is a bit concerned if it doesn't go away - but not unduly. Just keeping an eye. I wouldn't be stressed.

HowLongTillBedtime · 17/06/2014 16:48

I probably should say that my first son died afterwe were told he was fine and just had a cold . So my anxiety is justified but I also know that it is highly unlikely to be anything to worry about . I don't know why I have posted really .

Headache for a week sounds worrying, but as Marigold says, the GP wouldn't have sent you home for 5 days if she was seriously concerned. Did she say what to look put for, how to know if you need to come back sooner?

BorisJohnsonsHair · 17/06/2014 16:50

My DS always got headaches with infections. If your GP is happy for you to go back in a week, then you've got to believe that it's ok. However, if you're really stressing over this, take him back to see a different doctor. If they both say the same, then this should put your mind at rest. Your health is important too!

MrsKCastle · 17/06/2014 16:51

X-post.No wonder you are stressing. Sometimes it does help to share the worries... And as you say, it isn't likely to be serious- it really isn't.

HowLongTillBedtime · 17/06/2014 16:56

Thank you , I struggle knowing what I should be freaking out over and what I should be calming down about . This is one of those .

Realistically I know that nobody can tell me what is going on , she wanted me to see her Friday but we couldn't get an optician in time . However I have now found one for tomorrow so maybe I will ring her after we have been and try and see her earlier .

Just be thankful you can read and run, the inside of my head is a messy old place to be .

Where does the Optician come in?

HowLongTillBedtime · 17/06/2014 17:08

We had his eyes tested six months ago because he said his eyes kept going fuzzy , optician said all was fine but gp wants to rule it out again before sending him for further tests .

I am not ignoring but I have to go and do exciting things like cricket and cubs .

I know I am sounding a wee bit odd but tbh that is how I feel . I mooch about for months coping well but something like this has the ability to spin me out .

Oh no, I'm so sorry about your son. No wonder you're stressing out.

MrsKCastle · 17/06/2014 19:57

Has your DS said anything more about his sight? It could well be the cause of headaches.

I think if the sight test is clear, then you should phone the GP and let them know tomorrow in case they do want to see him again sooner. In fact, given your history, don't be afraid to push for an early appointment.

HowLongTillBedtime · 17/06/2014 20:50

No , he did say today that sometimes he sees black shapes , which I will tell the optician tomorrow .

And yes I will speak to the gp if all clear .

I keep seeing that bloody thread title and cringing Blush

Oh no, bless you. That's terrible, so no wonder you stress if you have been told something is ok and then it so seriously was not ok. I don't really think the optician will have a lot to say if his eyesight was ok a few months ago. For specialist eye problems you need hospital anyway. I'm sure the headache is related to an infection, but with the eye thing it IS a bit more concerning and I would be certainly pushing for a scan if the optician says he is fine.
