Brown spot on new tooth

Anyone got a happy ending to this? My dd's new adult front tooth is just emerging and it's got a brown mark on it. I immediately consulted my dentist googled it and it seems it can be caused by trauma to the tooth whilst it's still up in the gum. She did fall over and chip her baby tooth as a toddler so this is probably the cause. I'm gutted for both me and her as the dentist google says there's nothing you can do except wait til adulthood and then you can bleach it or get a veneer. So sad that she has to go through her whole teenage years with a brown spot on her tooth. I'm worried she's going to get self-conscious about it and stop smiling etc. It looks like we don't brush her teeth but we do, we do! Any suggestions?

Not quite the same but my DS fell and knocked his two front baby teeth when he was 3 and they blackened. The dentist was able to partially disguise them with some sort of paste which improved their appearance until they fell out. Could this sort of thing be a temporary option?

Could be antibiotics. My DS has a brown spot on his baby teeth from antibiotics. I've been told its likely his adult teeth will be affected too.

Sorry to say that I had this when I was younger.i had to wait till I was 16 to get veneers which were on the nhs then (sadly not the case now and it's going to cost me a fortune to have them redone)
I got teased, I was extremely self concious, would try to hide my teeth behind my tongue which led to more name calling 'licking lizard ' etc. I used to get told I was a fucking tramp and go brush your teeth. Absolutely horrible.

My life began when I had veneers fitted, I had them done in the summer holidays between leaving school and starting college. It was a fresh start for me, most people didn't no what my teeth were like before so no teasing. I could smile and talk to people without trying to cover my mouth with my hand or tongue. Something I'd never been able to do.

I'm sorry mine is such a negative experience. I hope things are easier for your daughter and dentistry has improved to offer an alternative at a younger age.

I had one on my front tooth for years and it never really bothered me. At about 23 the enamel on that part of the tooth was wearing away so I had a tooth coloured filling put over it and its almost invisible unless very close up.

That might be an option in a couple of years if it does start to bother her.

Thanks everyone hopefully that tooth coloured filling is an option. Sorry to hear about your experience greggsonlegs, tthat's just what I was worrying about.

My dsis had this, and they just shaved off the very top layer and put in a white filling. You can't tell at all. They did it when she was about 8 and it's still fine 20 years later. Hope it turns out ok for you OP.
