Dd 9 went to see one direction yesterday with me and her 12 yo sister. It was pretty loud. I have specially made ear plugs that musicians use as I have tinnitus and am sensitive to Loud music. I brought ear plugs for the dds and gave them the option of wearing them. They really didn't want to. Now my 9yo is saying she still feels like her ears are strange ( as if full of water) nearly 24 hours later. I'm worried. And really cross with myself for underestimating his loud it would be :( especially as I'm not totally ignorant in this subject. I just didn't realise it would be THAT loud. Any advice? Is it normal to feel adverse effects 24 hours later?

She probably has some damage to her ears but as a one of will be pretty minimal. She'll be able to hear properly in a day or two.

Ps my own ear problems were not noise induced, incase anyone is even more amazed than me at my stupidity.

It's all going, is that a professional opinion? :)

No Grin I read somewhere once that if you ears feel funny after loud noise then you have done permanent damage. Your brain is pretty good at compensating though, and a single event does very minimal damage. When my ears felt like that after schools discos they would be back to normal within a day IR so.

Ears are good at protecting themselves- the little bones separate when they are subjected to loud noises so they aren't so loud when they get to the inner (or is it middle) ear.

They move back a short time after, don't worry.

Thanks. So the people who get damage from concerts would have attended quite a few, I guess. I am so unable to gauge volume as it actually hurts my ears, whilst others apparently enjoy it! So my discomfort is a not usually a sign of excessively high volume, if that makes sense.

I'm going to post in chat for a few others' experiences with their dc. Thanks :)
