Could my dd have PCOS?

my lovely dd is 13, and in the middle of puberty.
She has not yet started her periods, and does not have any acne (just gorgeous un-wrinkled skin...)
However, she is 5 foot 5 and a size 14, I have not weighed her as I do not want this to be an issue, but is generously covered, and heavier than I think she 'ought to be' (really trying not be a body fascist here) but I do try and steer her to a healthy diet, but I do know she is a fan of pasta pots at school lunches.
The issue that really triggers this thought is body hair; she has the startings of hair on her upper lip. Now she has lovely golden brown hair, so could it just be downy hair that is normal, in contrast, I am very, very fair so my hair on my body is pale blonde at its darkest, but dh is very dark haired and very, very hairy, so does she just take after her dad?
(I am a aware she has hair underarms and elsewhere, but am not about to go looking for hirsuitism there)

So, she has some signs and symptoms; weight, hair, possible lack of periods. What do I do? Sit and wait or take to the GP asap?
or, stop twitching...

thanks for reading

Rule out her thyroid first as it's just a blood test. Ask the doc for TSH, free T3 and T4. If my Mam had bothered her arse when I was 13 I wouldn't have struggled with my weight for so long!

thankyou, Inanimate, that's another thing to mull over.
I know she is in a growth spurt at the moment, so I am watching and waiting, but really would like to know if there is an optimum time to present at the GP...

Do go and see GP, don't wait. My mum and I both have PCOS, both of us were fobbed off with excuses. I persisted and was offered an ultrasound which was inconclusive, then got very lucky and fell preggers with DS.
I have suffered with weight problems all my life, I was always the 'fat kid' despite a healthy lifestyle. I've horrific unpredictable periods, only really controlled by Yasmin nowadays (the implant and the coil made things much worse) mood swings, depression and if I didn't shave, pluck and now lazer I'd have a beard Captain Birdseye would be jealous of. PCOS is hugely misunderstood IMO, don't feel like you are being pushy, I wish I'd have understood my symptoms years ago... good luck I hope things work out for your daughter xxx
