Is it normal for a child to feel their heart beating?

Hi. My 5yr old ds was chasing his brother when we were at the park today and stopped and put his hand on his chest saying he could feel his heart. As I'm prone to get a bit anxious I took his pulse which was very high. He carried on playing and seemed fine. His pulse still seemed quite high and I'll check it again when he's sleeping.
Is it normal for them to sometimes become aware of their heart when running?
Thanks

Yes, he was running around Smile Children's hearts do beat faster than an adults, so it's very normal. When they are exercising it's faster still, it doesn't mean anything's wrong Thanks Do have a chat with your GP if you're worried though.

I read somewhere (I think it was New Scientist) that some people can feel their heart beat all the time. It is definitely more common in slim young men. On its own it is nothing to worry about.

I still get this when exercising or exerting myself!
