Symptoms started this morning. She is not eating or drinking (I am making her sip water occasionally)

She suddenly started complaining of stomach pain, made her sit on the loo (she didn't poo) - pain was bad, she went very white, then felt like she would faint and went very sweaty, that passed and we sat her down on the sofa. Then felt sick, whizzed her back to the loo where she retched but only brought up a bit of clear liquid.

She then was curled up on the sofa with bad tummy pain which was located on the right side. Phoned doc, he said to take her to emergency care because of where pain was located - didn't say it was an emergency. In the half hour/hour since he phoned (organising child care for DS, packing bag etc) she seems much better. Stomach pain has eased off, she has a bit more colour in her face, still doesn't want to eat or drink but is sitting up and playing on iPad.

So what now? Hold off and wait, take her up now? Her stomach still hurts if you press it but she isn't crunched up like she was.

I would take her to be looked at.

Thanks orange. We didn't end up taking her but she's fine now. Just not sure what happened! I think I will take her to the GP for a check up on Tues.

My sister had something similar and it just faded, it is suspected that it was trapped wind, hopefully that is all it was for your DD too, I hope she's feeling better

TooOldForThisSortOfThing · 25/05/2014 19:00

Thanks tmae - how did they work out what it was? Dd's tummy wasn't bloated and she didn't fart or burp at all, it just sort of eased off over time.

DD2 had this type of thing a few months, on and off , before her period started.

LadySybilLikesCake · 25/05/2014 19:03

Where does it hurt? It could be her appendix so it's a good idea to get her checked out if it comes back.

I was like this throughout my periods as a young girl, my dd has just started like this too, but no periods yet.
Poor love, I hope both your dd and my dd aren't as bad as I was it was horrid and exactly as you experienced, right down to the clear liquid.
If it continues see your gp, they gave me tablets for it, which really helped.

It could be appendicitis, the pain eases immensely if it bursts. I would still get her checked over tbh

notnowImreading · 25/05/2014 19:15

It might be appendicitis but I think it is quite likely to be constipation. It's something I suffered with a couple of times as a child with exactly the same symptoms. Both times, docs weren't sure if that was the problem so treated as if for appendicitis - nil by mouth etc in preparation for possible general anaesthetic.

If you are going to spend a while thinking about it before going to a&e, it would be worth trying to get her to drink water. In addition, massage of the abdomen can help if it is not too tender. You might be able to feel the stuck poo on the right hand side, close to the waist, if you give quite a deep rub.

If you are worried, you should go to a&e. As I say, the symptoms for appendicitis are similar and it can be serious.

Thanks all, sorry title a bit misleading as I posted this morning so not urgent now. Dd is fine at the moment, no pain since this morning and has eaten a good dinner.

She said she had been for a poo today so don't think it is constipation - although I did wonder that too as she doesn't drink much at all. Also think it is unlikely to be periods as she hasn't started any signs of puberty yet.

We're keeping a close eye on her and if it happens again will take her to A and E. If it doesn't I will prob still take her to the GP on tues for a check up.

Thanks for the replies.

Watch very carefully for signs of infection - sickness, going very pale, fast heart - and if any of them take her to A&E. If your appendix bursts you get better for a short time before quickly going downhill with infection.
