Chicken pox

I think my DD has chicken pox. She is only 9 months old and has come out in small blisters on her belly. Any tips to help us through would be lovely, thanks.

Poor baby. Dd had CP at 9 months. Piriton can help the itching, but the bottle says not for under 1s. A pharmacist told me "off the record" that when it is prescribed for allergies, the u1s dose is 2.5 ml 4 times a day.

You can give Calpol every 4 hrs and ibuprofen every 4 hrs but staggered by 2 hrs.

Poxclin and Virasoothe helped with itching too.

DD mostly slept with CP - her temp was high too? Hence Calpol. It was July, do we had cool baths when she was awake. DS had it just before dd (he was 3) and they both hit bronchitis afterwards. I understand it is not uncommon to get ill with something else after CP.

NHS say no nurofen for chickenpox as there is a risk of it causing skin infections. Just calpol to keep her feeling better.
Dr in hospital told us he always recommends not bathing children for first couple of days to help spots dry up quicker, but libraly apply calamine to spots to help them dry up. By encouraging them to dry up they are less likley to get infected. Worked a treat for our daughter who has just bounced back after a dose of cp last week!
