DD has lots of different things wrong, should I worry?

DD has been off school for a week - firstly with a virus - and now she has an ear infection (for which we have amoxicillin as had bulging drum), cold sore, impetigo (one each side of her mouth - def not the same thing as spreading/looking totally different and has seen 3 GPs) and a mouth full of ulcers. It's not hand foot and mouth as ulcers not the same sort.

This is her third bout of illness this year, and her sixth cold sore since January.

She is 7 - eats meat - eats well - and is usually asleep at 7 (but does wake up about 5-30).

Would you worry that there is something underlying going on that means she is more susceptible - her two brothers aged 8 and 5 are totally fine - have allergies (which she doesn't) not 100% attendance both since last Sept - get colds but then get better/don't turn into other things.

Thanks

I would always urge someone to go with their gut if they felt things didn't add up,no one knows her better than you

It does sound like she's run down from lots of illness,I'd go for a good multi vitamin and antibiotics (especially after abs which destroy good bacteria in gut and immunity starts in the gut) Biocare do a great children's one,

Yes I would worry,I would ask GP for a referral to a paediatrician

The fact that she has had so many cold sores would worry me, as the mouth full with ulcers. It may be that her immune system is quite down. Could you ask GP for blood tests (most GPs won't do blood tests on young children, so you will probably need to go to nearest children's hospital where they are very good at doing blood tests).

My ds was like this from the day he was born. Every cold (and there were lots of them) came with a secondary infection and lasted forever and this was in contrast to dd who never seemed to get sick. Ds was finally diagnosed with mitochondrial disease at age 11 1/2. He was put on a treatment of high doses of supplements that the mitochondria needs to function and he got much much better. There is genetic testing available to determine if there is an underlying mitochondrial issue. It's still pretty expensive, so your gp may not want to order up genetic testing, but you can get his Carnitine and CoQ10 blood levels checked for a lot less money and make sure they do vitamin D too.

One of my friend's dcs was like this and it turned out to be Coeliac, which completely threw her as it was totally unexpected. Apparently lots of mouth ulcers was what the GP finally decided this could be the reason.

Many moons ago when my daughter was seven she came down with every going in school that winter, and the doctor never batted an eyelash about her poor immune system, just kept on writing out prescriptions for supposedly necessary antibiotics.

I finally took her to a practitioner of Chinese medicine who gave her a three-day course of Chinese herbs and she didn't get sick for another two years.

In my daughter's case it was too many antibiotics that had affected her immune system. Since then she might have had antibiotics another three times and she is nearly 30.
