Hi. My 7 yr old had chicken pox really badly over the last 2 weeks. His brother (5) has one spot under his arm (classic place) looks like chicken pox, has blister. But its the only one and it appeared on Saturday. I must admit when people tell you their child only got one spot, i would think hmmmm dont think thats chicken pox.......but no idea now! Anyone any ideas??? Making it difficult to know about going to school. x

You can have none. So one is very possible.

Yes. Eldest ds had it very mildly (1-2 spots) during one summer then got a super bad second dose of it the following winter.

Pox went round dds Playschool, I noticed 1 tiny tiny spot on her chest but thought as just the one and very small couldn't be, a week later both ds1 and ds2 came out head to toe in spots and neither had been in contact with anyone from the playschool

How can you have none? How would you know if your child had had chickenpox?

A nursery nurse at DD's nursery was pretty poorly no spots bloods and swabs confirmed chicken pox.

Wow didn't realise. Do think I should just assume it is and keep him off school. He doesn't feel great and the spot is so distinctive. It was the fact there is only one that threw me! Wonder if there's much chance of another batch coming out?

The GP saw said if its a mild case the first time round, they can get the "full-blown" pox at some point.

Lonecatwithkitten · 20/05/2014 09:33

You can get chicken pox up to 5 times as not all the derives cross protect against each other.

Sorry damn autocorrect not all the serovars.
