Dd 9 months has hayfever I'm 90% sure.

I'm a disaster with allergies and asthma

Spoke to pharmacist who said only thing to do is put Vaseline below eyes and nose.

Have a dr appointment on Thursday - anyone got any wise thoughts?

She's miserable - eyes and nose streaming and it's a constant stream rather than her nose being blocked.

Tmi but no green (sorry)

I'm not sure for a 9month old specifically, but my friends 2yr old was given an anti-histamine syrup and an asthma spray / chamber dealy if that's a help?

My DD is a lot older than yours (12yo) and takes one Cetirizine Hydrochloride tablet daily to ease her hayfever symptons. She also puts a little vaseline up her nose (to catch the pollen) and wears wrap around sunglasses.

On bad pollen days she also has a shower as soon as she gets in from school. With all this it's bearable and she's able to enjoy the outdoors (we cycle to school).

Her hayfever only started last year so we were on a steep learning curve this time last year.

I think Cetirizine is available in a syrup form if your doctor agrees that your DD has hayfever.

My son was 2 when he was diagnosed with hayfever. He was able to take cetirizine which helped a little but the following helped too:

Keep windows shut in her bedroom. Pollen can come in through the window and settle on floor and bedding.

Bath her (including hair) and wash clothes as soon as she comes in from outdoors.

Don't dry clothes outside as they will be covered in pollen.

Early morning and evening are the worst times to be outside.

Vaseline up the nose and wrap around sun glasses.

My son is 7 now and in the last year of a 3 year programme of desensitisation.(grazax). This has been a life changing experience and although we still have to be careful his hayfever is a lot more manageable.

I seem to think doctors sometimes prescribe piriton to babies under a year but hopefully Thursday you will find out.
