Changes in eyesight

Dd started off at 2 years old longsighted prescription +7

Over the years her prediction reduced to +1.25 ( last pair of glasses) then 6 months ago she was told her vision was pretty much perfect

Last couple of weeks she's complaining of headaches and struggling to read her violin music, the board looks fuzzy

Am I being ridiculous thinking she's now short sighted?

Can't get optician appointment for 2 weeks

Not at all, I was long sighted as a youngster and am now short sighted (diagnosed late teens, but looking back I had been for a while and hadn't realised - not being able to read a blackboard from the back of the classroom was normal for me).
The optician who first diagnosed my short sightedness reckoned it was possible that my childhood glasses had over corrected things and perhaps I should have been left alone/had a weaker prescription. Subsequent opticians have said that's a bonkers theory though..

Definitely worth getting any changes in eyesight checked out though, especially if she's suffering headaches too. Hope all's ok.

This is what happened to me! Started off longsighted as a child, prescription reduced until I had a goot 18 months with no glasses before shortsightedness set in at the age of 10 or so. Now v shortsighted :-(

Let us know how she gets on x

what age is she? Tbh if she is struggling to read close up stuff that indicates long sight not short sight (if short sighted she can see close stuff better than objects in the distance).

I'm surprised long sightedness of +7 has improved so drastically to not need glasses any longer. DD has had glasses from the age of 18 months and started around +6 and has improved to +4.5 and +5.5. I have been told she will likely always need glasses (she is now 10)

It's the board at the front of the class and the music on a music stand which is much further away than normal reading distance that she's struggling with

She's coming up to 11 years old

thats an awful big jump in eyesight in just a few years then. Could you try a different optician if your usual one is not available?
