Toddler high temp, vomiting, bright red legs

DS is 19 months - he's with DH as I'm at work 2 hours away :-(

Doc app at 5.30 but he's throwing up, his tummy seems to be hurting, temp is over 39 and his legs are bright red as if with sun burn - any ideas?

Yes, would echo Mama. If the GP can't see them now as an emergency I'd go straight to a and e.

I am at work, he's on his way to doc with his father - I was wondering if anyone knew what red legs could mean while I'm here anxious to get home. No need to be so bloody rude.

Could be related to the high temperature or a viral rash or possibly an underlying skin infection. GP will hopefully be able to make an assessment and go from there. Sorry, not very helpful but skin things can be tricky.

I'd be inclined to take him to A&E rather than wait until 5.30pm appointment as that's still a couple of hours off and they can see at a glance if he needs immediate attention.

Tell DH to take him to his nearest walk in centre, I wouldnt wait till 5:30

Is the rash on his legs bumpy op? Scarlet Fever is doing the rounds at the moment, a friends little boy had it and dds nursery has a warning up at the moment as there have been two cases in children who go there.

Red rash starting in one area, temperature and vomiting are all symptoms.

Hope he's okay whatever it is.

The nhs leaflet we were given says the rash looks like sunburn too.

Treatment is ten days course of antibiotics, and sufferers usually feel better after four to five days.

I was going to say scarlet fever. No doubt he will have seen the GP now though; I hope he is OK.

Thanks everyone - I still haven't seen him as got back from work so late but seems to be sleeping peacefully. GP didn't think it was scarlet fever, just said to keep an eye so fingers crossed he wakes up a bit better tomorrow

My daughter has the same exact symptoms. Was wondering if he woke up fine the next morning or if he was ever diagnosed with anything?
