Thought I would post here as well (posted in general health and parenting)l...

My DD is two and has always had milk eczema. However, since we travelled to the USA it has flared and spread to her legs and other arm (before she had just on one spot on her arm.) Anyway, we took her to the Dr for a check up for an ear infection...turns out she had a bad ear infection in both ears...so was put on antibiotics...after a few days on antibiotics her eczema has completely cleared! I am worried it will come back after she is finished the course. I sure hope it does not!

But I am just curious if anyone has experience with this?

Well, not entirely the same experience, but related. DH had very bad skin (not quite acne, but not far off) at one stage that completely cleared when he was put on a particular antibiotic (twice). The doctor did confirm it was a side effect of the drug, so sounds like DD is experiencing something similar.

The courses didn't completely remove the bad skin issue, but longer term it's definitely reduced to flare-ups (which are milder than the everyday condition he did have) so hopefully the same will be true for your DD.

I read somewhere that eczema gets easily infected and those infections can rumble on for years just under the skin. Hoping the ABs beat the infection for good but chances are it will be back when her eczema returns and infection gets back in again. Sad Wish DD3's would go....

My dd has been prescribed a course of antibiotics a couple of times when her eczema has been bad - if the skin has been broken, it can be infected and become more inflamed and widespread. It doesn't clear it up entirely, but does really help it settle down. So hopefully your dd's eczema won't come straight back.

I would guess it was infected - it turned out this was the case with my DD's eczema last year. It really didn't look infected.
