Nappy rash, eczema or something else?

I put DS in a bath with oilatum - half a cap like I was told - and he came out with this all over his lower back and bum. It was fine going in and he seems to be in a lot of discomfort. Anybody have any idea what it is and what I should put on it? He's scratched it so much he's broken the skin so I haven't put his steroid cream on, but have put a thin layer of metanium as I've found this to be a miracle cream.

If it's still the same or worse in the morning I might see if I can see my GP/nurse and ask for advice.

There are better pictures but they have DS's bits in so will try and cut them out and post.

It's not very clear but if does look a lot eczema to me. Dd has recently had it from top to toe and her skin was red and bumpy all over.

Would it have come on within the space of 15 minutes? So should I put on his steroid cream and double base moisturiser? He's only ever had it on his elbows and knees so not really sure how to handle it.

Dd started in the morning with a small rash at the top of her back and by the afternoon it covered her from head to toe. It's been a nightmare. Start with the creams as you need to get it under control. You can always take him to the doc for confirmation.

He's just woken up - he pulled his nappy off and scratched himself until he's bled Confused I've brought him into my bed so I can keep an eye on him and he's settled down now.

Will give home a cool bath of just water in the morning and cover him in creams.

My ds did that one nap time (he had a bad patch on his face) went to get him and there was blood everywhere. Definitely use the steroid cream and make an appointment at your gp for a plan of action. That's what I did recently with dd once the ooh doc had diagnosed eczema. The rash has now gone but she's still scratching but I'm waiting for an appointment with the dermatology team. I hope you get it sorted. It's not fun is it?

The cool bath seemed to soothe it. I've been putting his moisturiser on very nappy change and it's so much better.

Couldn't get a doctors appointment today so will carry on with the steroid and double base creams over the weekend and book an appointment on Monday.

It's so hard to see him frustrated, I've put him in a best so he can't et his nappy off but he's not a happy bunny!
