my 3 and a half y/o son has been labelled 'hypermobile' by a physio. I've spent over a year very worried about the highs and lows in his energy. his sleep varies from ok to very bad. he has low iron and is taking supplements - the paediatrician refused further input until iron level improves. he cannot seem to rest, we have been told he is 'movement-seeking' and due to his hypermobility doesn't like to be still but also due to this normal activity tires him more than most children experience. he goes through cycles of been so horribly tired he can't properly rest and it is very difficult to crack these cycles. he starts school in september and i am so incredibly worried as part time nursery is challenging enough for him. Most recently we've had a referral made to a paed rheumatologist and sleep study clinic but only after i broke down in tears in front of a health visitor who had some experience of this. any similar experiences would be gratefully received!!

ds1 is hypermobile - epsom salt baths help at the end of the day with restless legs (couple of cups of salt and play in bath - no soap - for 20 minutes - good wind down time)
Look at sensory processing disorder too - some of the sensory seeking stuff might be quite good. ds has a cushion to sit on at school for comfort and sensory input.
Massage also helps ds
Hypermobility Association does a good leaflet for school - worth getting a few copies and sharing with them before/as he starts - our school was clueless. ds also needs special pen grips to help so worth flagging up.
