Getting conflicting advice from nhs website and RL friends, and I don't want to waste GP's time (and ours) on a bank hol.

DD1 has:
Sore throat since Friday, got worse yesterday.
Tired, sleeping a lot, generally not well (but fully alert when awake)
In a lot of pain when swallowing. Hasn't eaten much since Friday, but managing to drink enough.
Temp has been up and down a bit but no high fever.

So- doctor or duvet day? Please help me decide!

No tonsillitis is agony. Ooh to get it checked. May need ab's.

Agree with above poster call ooh, even as an adult tonsillitis is painful to swallow and doesn't start to get better after couple of days of antibiotics.

GiveTwoSheets · 04/05/2014 12:40

Meant *until after a few days of antibiotics

MrsKCastle · 04/05/2014 12:42

Ok, thanks. Will give them a call.

Most sore throats are viral. Even with antibiotics for bacterial infections the duration of illness is shortened by average by only 12 hours. However there is some scarlet fever around and so you need to be a bit more cautious than normal.

How old is DD?

All that said my personal opinion is that if you are concerned it's worth speaking to 111. If they don't think you need to be seen after taking a more detailed history they won't see her, so really you won't be wasting much of anyone's time.
