Slapped cheek?

UptobedNOW · 02/05/2014 07:51

Dd age 4 woke yesterday with a red cheek. Was warm to touch and she said it was a bit sore. I thought it was an allergic reaction to buttercups as she said she had been rubbing them on her cheek the previous day at pre-school Confused
She has woken this morning with the other cheek also red. No other symptoms at all. Could this be slapped cheek or allergy? We had a zoo trip planned this morning but obviously if slapped cheek we will have to cancel.
Thanks for any advice.

This exact same thing happened to dd2. One or two glare ups of red cheeks accompanied by nothing else I'm the way of symptoms.

And no continuation of the disease in the sense of the rashe etc predicted by day 3/4 on the nhs website.

I wondered same as you, allergic reaction.

Yes I'm thinking probably allergy as she has been outside a lot the last couple of days. She does get eczema so is a bit more sensitive to allergens as am I. May give the outing a miss just in case though the thought of being stuck in all day with a 2 year old and 4 year old is making me feel a bit Shock Grin

That doesn't sound fun. Is there any field/green near you where it's usually quiet and they can have a run without being in contact with anyone?

Yes we have a really big village green so will probably take them over there in a while and wear them out!

Sounds like a plan. :) fresh air always helps. Kids certainly like to confuse us don't they.

I kept dd off pre school and nothing came of it. Never happened again. It was the blue tinge under her bottom lip that made me think allergy with dd but to what I'll never know

I find it hard to diagnose anything more often than not as my two don't ever seem to have typical symptoms... apart from chicken pox - that was definitely chicken pox Grin have a good day.

Good luck today :o
