"healthy" kind of chewing gum?

yesterday I decided to look at the tub of chewing gums my ds keeps buying and after looking at the ingredients I realised with horror that they contain the artificial sweeteners (aspartame, acesulfame, a source of phenylalanine). Today ds went to the supermarket and returned saying that every brand he saw lining the shelves seemed to contain at least one of these harmful substances.
Does anyone have any idea for a "chewing gum" that is natural / organic or so? ds's taken to chewing gum to stop biting nails (which worked!) so it really is about him chewing on something, not for making bubbles or whitening teeth or anything...

Hi, I'm concerned about this too, health food shops sell aspartame free gum, I think M&S sell one without too x

try Peppersmith's - makers of high quality, natural gum and mints with fine English peppermint and rainforest chicle. No artificial colours, flavours, preservatives or added sugar
