ENT appt at local hospital - what to expect?

DS (3.2) has had a small language delay and is going for a hospital appt with an ENT specialist after a Dr referral. He had a dummy until bout 6 months ago and people had assumed it was that which caused the slight speech delay. Although he now speaks more, his words are very nasal and unclear - I am still having to translate a lot of what he says.

Other symptoms are that he dribbles slightly still (breathes through his mouth esp when concentrating), sounds pretty nasal and snores when he sleeps. The Dr said his tonsils are slightly large but not huge, so he's not sure if that is an issue (hence referral) but couldn't feel adenoids.
Not really sure what they will ask, so any advice would be gladly appreciated.

My DD is a veteran of ENT due to severe glue ear resulting in speech delay, plus poor muscle control from dyspraxia ( there is a specific verbal dyspraxia but DD isnot diagnosed with this).

I would say ask for a hearing test, keep records of anything you think may be connected and hook into speech therapy services as soon as you can (I have assumed NHS) as waiting lists long and support like gold dust.

Thank you Jingle!
I was thinking today how he sometimes seems to loose balance for little reason - like he'll be turning around and suddenly end up on his bum.
I'm clearly thinking ears>balance but not sure if that is just normal! I also keep hearing that toddlers this age are still mouth breathers and not clear (he says 'gno' through his nose as if he has a cold for example) so I have no idea if this is actually an issue. It's our first check up there so I suppose I am really hoping they can cover every physical check and give us a yay or nay... I just wish I knew what I was looking for!

I had grommits, and not sure if they are genetic?
No idea on his dad as he is un-contactable and hasn't turned up for contact with DS for 6 months, so I can't check Sad

My DD's balance was terrible but that could be dyspraxia rather than glue ear. Good luck - write your questions down. Hope the docs can help.
