side effects of scarlet fever?

About 4 weeks ago DS (21mo) had scarlet fever. Well, first doc said it was tonsillitis, then following day different doc said scarlet fever.

Either way, it's the same bacteria and antibiotics same to treat both he said.

During the 10 days he was on the meds, the rash on his back/arm/tummy cleared up quite well, but he got a very different and very nasty rash all over his legs. I took him back to the doc once he'd finished the AB to show her the rash, and she said it looked more like eczema, probably caused as a reaction to the strep throat/scarlet fever. She prescribed some moisturiser and hydrocortisone cream.

10 days or so later the rash is better but still there. It basically looks like his legs are scarred all over with darker pigment and it looks rather grim. Took him to doc again (fourth doc now, same clinic) and she said that it looks like something called "gouteax psoriasis". Gouteaux because it looks like droplets. Anyway, she said again that it will have been a reaction to the SF bug and it can take weeks to go, not to worry, and to keep using moisturiser.

Has anyone else had this in their DC? Sometimes I think it's never going to go. It is def fading but some days am convinced he'll never be pink and beautiful again :(

Guttate Psorasis, my dd has had it twice after strep throat. It will go but will take a few weeks. Keep the moisturiser up and use something in the bath . Dermol is very good and is what we use with my dd.
It will go and although my dd was covered in it there is no scaring.

If it gets worse take him back as sometimes a longer course of antibiotics is needed .
