Taking 8 month old to Spain, is there anything I should be aware of health wise?

Hello, we're going on our first family holiday to Mallorca next month. It is the first trip abroad with baby and I wondered if I could get advice from mums as to any health tips? She has solids and formula milk, but should I give her water too when abroad to prevent dehydration? My health visitor put me off giving her water as she said it would fill her stomach up and lessen her hunger!!! Any other advice gratefully received. Cheers

When you're buying bottled water make sure it has the symbol as suitable for babies on it. It has lower sodium levels in, so if safe to use for making up formula.

It all sounds lovely!

Do make sure you have applied for your EHIC card (European Health Insurance Card). If you do need any medical help, it will be so much easier and quicker (and free!) if you have it with you.
The Card is Free and here is an official link

I had to see a doctor with my 13 month old when I was in Spain and they were great, but the did ask for the EHIC.

Evian water is best for babies it should be widely available. Other than that all the same as at home really. Very different to childhood holidays you may remember!

you should be given water here too?!?

Thanks for your messages - will apply for card. Yes the water thing is tricky for me as my health visitor and at my antenatal class said that water should only increase when milk decreases! The advice was that by giving water you fill up the stomach and lessen the hunger signals!! My baby is still having plenty of milk - I've started giving her bits of water in a sippy cup after she has had milk or solids so will continue that way..
