On thurs my dd (19 weeks) started to get a rash on the top. Of her back/neck area and was scratching when feeding (bf) at 4pm I called go as it had spread over her stomach nd started on her arms and legs. Took her to go who said it was a viral rash (dd has had a slight cough for about 2 weeks but hasnt been unwell with it)
I did some googling I know I know and think it might be a prickly heat rash or possibly hives. She is getting distressed as she is trying so hard to scratch. She's pushing her way across the floor in a bid to scratch her back and the rash is getting worse on her legs and arms. I've trying bashing in porridge oats bath and moisturising with aveeno. I've also given neurogenic a cople of time just in case that helps. Should I get her looked at by someone to see if she can have antihistamines? I'm trying to keep her cool in case it is this heat rash thingy but its not improving. I've got a wedding tomoro and obviously with the bank holiday I don't really know what to do. My gp isn't open now Until tues.
Any ideas? Or ideas to relieve itching? Thank you

Fucks sake. Neurogenic is nurofen.

Take her to your local pharmacist as a first port of call. They are in a position to advise regarding antihistamines and/or OOH centre.

Oops - just realised she is 19 weeks, not 19 months.
They won't advise medication at that age, but another pair of eyes to look at the rash is helpful.

Think about whether you have changed washing powder/soap/fabric softener etc in last few days.

Do you have a walk in centre near you?

QuietNinjaTardis · 19/04/2014 09:52

Good plan. Don't know why i didn't think of that. Think I'm starting to panic a bit which is daft but I hate seeing her like this. Thank you.

It's horrible when they're itching like that. My ds had infant eczema at that age. Definitely get another opinion as she's obviously miserable with it. Walk in centre would be my next port of call.

QuietNinjaTardis · 19/04/2014 09:56

Oh aargh. No haven't changed anything recently. I have no idea about walk in centre. Think e nearest one is quite far away but will look it up.

DD had an itchy rash at a similar age. I was wearing a wooly jumper when I breastfed her and I think it irritated her.

Defo go to walk-in though, sounds miserable.
