Ds (3.9) has a genetic condition which means he is disabled and has health issues. One of the effects of the condition means that he has little or no enamel on his teeth, because of this (combined with severe reflux) his back molars have to be removed and dental work done under general anaesthetic. We have been waiting since before Christmas, and it is now being treated as an emergency because we believe he must be in quite a bit of pain.
We met the anesthetist last week who went through everything. He said that the extractions should be done in a theatre rather than dental suite, with a senior anaesthetist and oro-maxillo facial surgeon. He has a small hole in his heart and lung problems, so they are being
The thing is ds was ill on friday, vomited 10 times, was pale and floppy. He had diarrhoea on Saturday and was pale and floppy. He has improved since then, is eating and drinking, no temperature, but is still not right. He is floppier and less willing to walk than normal (he has low muscle tone anyway) has a bit of a cough and there is generally something not quite right.
The booking clerk is calling today to confirm that they have a senior anaesthetist ready for Weds, which means they can go ahead. I have blood tubes from the geneticist and the drs (they want some blood samples whilst he is under anaesthetic) and my mum is on call to come down from London tomorrow night so that she can look after our dds.
I am not sure what to do, do we have to make a decision to go ahead, or do they make the decision? If he is in any way under the weather, I am not sure we should go ahead.
Sorry for this blurbling post, I am a little worried.
