Chicken pox incubation

I know chicken pox can take up to 21 days to appear after exposure to the virus, but is that normal in toddlers/babies, or does it usually develop more quickly than that? My 3 year old was exposed a couple of weeks ago at nursery - no signs of anything yet. Have also got a 7 month old who will be in the firing line if 3 year old gets poorly... and a holiday booked for mid May. Last holiday 3 year old got taken into hospital in an ambulance with a severe chest infection. The time before he had a horrible tummy bug. We're cursed.

It's a long time ago now as my kids are currently 19&16 but DD chicken pox appeared exactly three weeks after DS! To the very day! I couldn't believe it! Fingers crossed you have a shorter incubation! Or none at al!!

when it was between dd and ds it took about 15 days from dd getting it before ds came out in spots

We were 15 days, but I can't guarantee DS1 got it from DS2, and not from nursery.
Everyone was saying 3 weeks to me.

Dd has been exposed over past 3 weeks

For the past four days she is snotty and with a temp

I think it's on it's way

Not sure how long it took for DS to get infected but DD came out in it exactly 2 weeks after he got it. Although I am pretty sure the cause of the infection was somewhere they both went iyswim.

Yes it's fairly common for it to take 2-3 weekssorry

2 of mine have had it and were both 2 week incubations. The oldest has never had it, despite being in extremely close contact when the younger ones had it (sharing cups etc). So there's just no way of knowing unfortunately!

There was the full 21 days between DS2 and DD.

We are on day 20 and not a single sign of it despite some very intense exposure to infection. If they don't get it I am amazed.

It's so hard to say as you don't know exactly where they picked it up do you?

I do know that ds1 was exposed several times before he finally succumbed (inc mouthing toys with another baby whose spots came out that night!) and then they all got it roughly 2 weeks apart. (That was a very long January!)
