Ent referral for snoring

Gp has agreed to an ent referral for my 10yo really loud snoring

Would it help to record her doing it and take that along to her first appointment?

I'm in my bedroom now listening to her and its sooo loud!

My GP suggested recording sound and video of my 14 month old twins to show the ENT however when we went to the appt. he wasn't interested in it and referred them for a sleep study. I guess it's worth doing anyway but you're likely to have a sleep study so that your DD's oxygen levels can be measured to check for sleep apnoea.
Good luck!

2yo DS was referred for snoring, tonsillitis and sleep apnoea. They weren't interested in recording either, just asked a lot of questions about the apnoea (does your DD have this too?). He's skipped the sleep study bit and will be going straight for removal of tonsils and adenoids which they say will give us 100% improvement in his apnoea and snoring.

I have no idea if she has apnoea?

She snores sounding like its coming from the back of the mouth rather than the throat which is accompanied by very heavy breathing

Then she smacks her lips/sucks on her tongue and stops then about 5 minutes later the snoring starts again

Does that sound like it?

It does sound as though it could be. Does she sleep on her front, mouth open with maybe bum raised slightly?

ipswichwitch - I was hoping we could skip the sleep study as I can't see how it's going to work with my DT2 as he thrashes around so much at night he's bound to tear off any wires. Oh well, we'll find out soon enough.

That is exactly how she sleeps??

I was told this is a normal sleep position for infants/children with sleep apnoea. My DT2 always sleeps like this and snores like a train.

Definitely video it. I had a job convincing them that DS needed surgery. We got it in the end and it made a huge difference. When dd had the same problems i took a video to the first appointment with an 11 second apnoea interval and no questions were asked after that!
