My 2.5 tripped up a curb at the end of last year and chipped her front tooth. I took her to dentist who checked her over and warned me to look out for her tooth dying....going grey etc.
All seemed fine, but she now has an abscess on her gum above the tooth which dentist says is due to the tooth dying.
I have been given 2 options. She is not in pain at the moment but will be soon apparently, so obviously want to avoid that.
Option 1, administer nitrous oxide through a nasal mask and then drill hole in tooth, pack it with a dressing and repeat every 6 months till her adult tooth cones through.
Option 2, tooth removed under General anaesthetic.
She was always ok at dentists prior to this but, 2 xrays and an attempt at drilling later, she is now terrified and I worry that she will develop a real fear if dentists. But gen anaesthetic seems so dramatic, plus she will have a big gap in her front teeth for the next 5 years...(my parental vanity I know!)
What would you do?
