My son and daughter were playing together and my son fell over really hard and his gum line started bleeding. I've got the bleeding to stop but the thing is how do I help him eat his lunch?

If the tooth is wobbly, I'd suggest going to the dentist.

Hmm

I think he needs to see the dentist too in case there is some broken tooth below the gum line. Meanwhile try using a straw for drinks, and maybe soup?

ChildishRevolution · 10/04/2014 20:06

not drinking :'(... He really doesn't feel well as normally by now.. he would be running around but now he's sleeping - without me telling him to.

I'm really worried.. I mean, I can't register him at a dentist since I know he will be very scared and he doesn't even speak in front of strangers let alone a dentist..

Did you see the accident? I would worry that he may have bumped his head as well as his mouth. Can you rouse him? Maybe call 111 for advice.

I 3 year old should be registered with a dentist..If you avoid taking him to these places he will never learn to deal with them..My Ds loves the dentist as they have always been really nice to him...He watched a dora DVD before he went...
I would also be very worried about head injury

ihearttc · 10/04/2014 20:18

Seriously you can't register him at a dentist now because he will be scared-in the nicest possible way thats a little silly.

Why does he have to talk in front of a dentist? You just need to explain whats happened and let the dentist have a look. A dentist is no scarier than a doctor and you wouldn't not take him to a doctor would you.

I was a dental nurse for many years and if a 3 year has a wobbly tooth because of trauma it really needs to be looked at...not only will he keep those teeth for a good few years yet it may have also damaged his adult teeth.

Im sure he won't thank you when he is older if his adult teeth are damaged because you thought he would scared at a dentist...and Im really sorry if that sounds harsh.

I saw the accident happening and he just went teeth first and it was bleeding instantly. I'll try and register him tomorrow.

Any impact/injury to the face including mouth/teeth should be treated like a head injury - is your dc rousable? I know it is now bed time but any signs that would any be a concern from this afternoon?

ChildishRevolution · 11/04/2014 12:37

He was and is rousable and now he's well but he still complains of toothache.

Hope he feels better soon, do you think he needs to see a dentist?

Purpleroxy · 11/04/2014 12:39

You need to go to the dentist. The tooth probably needs removing and possibly an X-ray to check all ok.
