Anyone ever had worries about effect of lead in water on children?

I live in very old house, have done since DS1 was a baby. Checked the internal pipes were copper when we moved in, all fine; now having renovations done and architect has told me that the supply pipe from the mains to house could be lead as it is in the house next door ( I am also a bit worried about old lead paint as we had work done on window frames etc, before I realised it was such a big deal).

I am now worried that damage may have been done, DS1 has some behavioural issues and SEN and DS2 also has issues, DS3 is fine apart from really dodgy teeth.

I will get my water tested by Scottish water but I am really worried.

Hi - I also live in an old house and had my water tested 6 months after we moved here as was worried. Turned out the supply pipe to house is old, but the lead content in water was very low (way lower than the threshold Thames water would be legally obliged to replace the pipe and law is more stringent than used to be). The Thames water engineer told me that typically in hard water areas there is so much lime scale in pipes that hardly any lead seeps through. Get your water tested and hope that gives you some reassurance in mean time. When I can, I also buy mineral water for the children but it is good to know that the tap water is ok.

We have soft water, better for almost everything else apart from lead. bit calmer in the cold light of day too late to change anything now, DS1 and 2 almost grown up, I am just always finding new things to feel guilty about.
