has anyones son been diagnosed with micro penis?

Ds1 is 3 years old. I have always had concerns about his penis, and he was diagnosed with too much foreskin and hooded foreskin. He had a circumcision but now the penis is very small, most the time it completely withdraws and all that is left is a very small nub. The gp is referring us and has talked about a condition called micro penis, has anyone been through this. I'm not so much worried for him now but I am very concerned for him in the future, I.e. his personal development, self confidence, relationship confidence, fertility, etc. Is or what is the treatment, google just seems rather confusing on the matter!

I've heard of it. It can be linked to some syndromic craniofacial conditions. I suspect that you will be referred to a Plastic Surgeon and a Urologist in the first instance. If you're near London then I'd recommend GOSH's Plastics team.

Go to MN advanced search and type in 'micro penis' i'm sure i saw a thread about it some time ago and there weRe lots of contributions, i also don't remember surgery being involved in this particular case.

Please don't fret! Syndromes are generally made up of lots of conditions. If you're worried about it then see a Plastics person for peace of mind/advice. I am sure that they will reassure you about your DS. I'm sorry for alarming you.

I've only heard about micro penis through research I've read that has been linked to some craniofacial conditions. Craniofacial meaning is when the bones in the face haven't grown/developed properly or are missing. Syndromes are made up of conditions that can seem quite randomly linked.

The only other factor which may impact is that he is quite a chubby toddler.

Is the GP referring you to a general
Paed? They will be able to tell you if you need to go and see a specialist, or whether it's nothing to worry about.

Think we've been referred to a urologist who treated the foreskin issue. He was originally diagnosed with hypospadius but after circumcision they withdrew that.

owth of the skull (amongst other things). With all due respect for the previous poster, by the age of 3 you would know if your child was affected.
