Toddler has had fever for over a week... Worried

DS is 22 months, and has had a fever since last Friday. He had a rash on his torso, but calpol bought the fever down, and apart from a runny nose, he was fine in himself.

On Sunday the rash spread to his neck and face (just around his mouth and nose) so we took him to the GP first thing on Monday. He wasn't eating much, but the gp said its just a viral infection, keep giving him calpol and lots of fluids.

The rash had gone by Tuesday, and he went to nursery thurs and fri. He was ok, but when I collected him on Friday they said he'd been quite clingy for half an hour or so before pick up, and he felt warm but didn't have a temp.

When we got home on fri, his temp was 39.5, so I gave him calpol and took him to the out of hours, who checked him over and said that his glands in his throat are swollen, but it's nothing to worry about, just give calpol.

He's no better today - high temp, off his food etc. I know that two drs have looked at him and said that he's fine, but it just seems like it's been going on too long.

Am I being silly, or am I right to be concerned,?

Give calpol if he needs it though.
Glad things improving.

No, it's helpful to hear other people's experiences, gives me something to mention to the drs as a possibility too!

Calpol is on standby, but checked his temp this morning and it's 36.1 which is such a relief, I really get worked up and panicky when he's poorly.

Hey everyone 9 month old been sick now for 8 days 1st it started with some vomiting not much..next day she was just a bit off no vomiting..3rd day had 1 more vomit and was so unsettled the next 5 days she's had a high temp its only coming in spikes every now and again throughout the day goes down with paracetamol/nurofen i took her to a&e as she was so miserable and temp was 40 once the temp goes back down she's smiling eating not as much but getting enough. She won't suck her dummy has a few sucks then throws it away same with bottle or cup its like she wants it but the sucking is hurting her? She's had an antibiotic azithromycin so covers a wide range of bacterial infections but its obviously not that. So drs saying viral infection but no one else in the house has it I suspect teething as she doesn't have any at all and she's really pulling at her gums which are really inflamed surley this wouldn't cause high temps?
